The Inerrant Word Of God
The Inerrant Word Of God
May 26, 2020|God Blog
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. John 1:1-3
Is there anything ambiguous here?
Jesus is the Word. As such, I’m going to have to go with: it is absolutely inerrant. Now are we going to quibble over what we all think are facts? What actually counts as the Word? That He used the people He wanted, in the time of His choosing, to write the Words that He wanted written? It’s like the world’s biggest no-brainer and I don’t know how anyone could see it differently. Like maybe the eternal creator of time/space, the entire universe, could not somehow manage to get the Word that He wanted into the ear He wanted it in because of some random clerical error.
I have my doubts as to how much He cares about how many arrows were in which quiver and other such nonsense, so we’ll avoid dealing with people that just grasp at anything to try and take away from it’s truth. Their hearts are hardened for reasons He alone knows, so we pray. And we contend for the faith anyway. And pray. As a believer, this is what we are commanded to do. It’s not a suggestion. He wants all to be saved, so we sow seed everywhere!
Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. Jude 3
Now what I’d like you to note here is that he was going to write about the Gospel but was compelled to write instead about what became his missive. So, do you think it might be important? Remember too that this is Jesus’ half brother here.
….always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.
1 Peter 3:15
There are some hearts, unfortunately, that all the evidence in the world won’t change. Hearts already marked for destruction. Please don’t be one of those!
Others focus too much on human understanding, dogma, tradition, and every other distraction, to be privileged enough to see the exquisite symmetry with which He has woven us this precious tapestry of the world’s most beautiful, seamless prose. Delivered over the course of almost two millennia. Using 40 different people to tell the Story. I don’t understand how it’s even a question of validity. The incredibly detailed, completely fulfilled prophecies of Daniel alone are enough to sway the unbiased mind. Never mind that Jesus showed up the exact day that was prophesied 480 years earlier. How the entire OT points to Jesus. It’s truly ridiculous the amount of evidence we have that gets buried. Within Scripture and all over the universe. Literally. We are never called to blind faith. My goal is to gather it all right here and show you why this worldview is affirmed completely, while the other….not so much.
But the church has fallen prey to an even more insidious evil. The erosion of Biblical authority in the body itself. And, don’t get it twisted. Just because you fall victim to someone’s hellbound theology, this will not excuse you. Be extremely careful who you let form your theology. You have the resource (His Word) and are explicitly instructed to strive and grow closer to an understanding and likeness to our lord, Jesus. It’s not just some magic bauble that you wish on once and get back to whatever it was that you were doing before. He doesn’t care if you’re offended and He’s not going to make you rich if you have enough faith. It is SO much bigger than that even tries to be.
Death is cruel. The Bible tells us that we brought it into God’s perfect creation. By listening to the shining one. Pride caused it all. Got him turned into a snake and us booted out of the Garden for starters. Turned rot, decay, and corruption loose all over His perfect Creation.
Unless it’s just a myth. A quaint book of allegory and metaphor, written a long time back by a bunch of irrelevant dead guys. Which is what it’s become to a large majority of the population. Another religious book like all the rest. How is this? I’m glad you asked.
We have become deaf to His voice. We’ve forgotten what sacred even means. How are we to be holy, as He has called us to be, when most of us crack the Book open (maybe) on Sundays? But say, “ I believe”. Do you know who else believes? Who else can quote Scripture? All of the fallen. That’s nowhere near good enough.
On that day, many will say to me, Lord, Lord, ….I will declare to them, I never knew you; depart from me you workers of lawlessness Matthew 7:22-23
If you still talk like the world, look like the world, act like the world, and believe what the world teaches over the Bible, you might want to take a look at that.
Are you on the narrow path? Which if you read that in context, you’ll notice that He’s talking to believers already, so there’s an extra measure of caution that should be observed.
But I digress.
So, was there an Adam and Eve? Did He create the world in 6 days? Is Genesis a reliable account of how it all went down? Did He part the Red Sea for Moses? Or does man know more than God? Because, there’s a huge problem here.
Because if there was no Adam and Eve, then we didn’t bring sin into the world, or death into existence even to creation itself, God and Jesus are both liars, and, furthermore, if we didn’t bring sin into the world, then why do we need a Savior? Which pretty much makes the Cross pointless.
And this is the story that we are letting the secular world sell our children. It’s what we sell our children! But wait, there’s more. So much more.
But how does God Most High feel about it?
Every word of God proves true; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words lest He rebuke you and you be found a liar. Proverbs 30:5-6
There is quite a bit more of this as well but time and space…..slightly ironic.
How about Jesus? Did He believe Genesis?
But from the beginning of creation, “God made them male and female”. Matthew 10:6
So that makes it unanimous because I’m pretty sure the Holy Spirit keeps telling me that I can rely on it too. So, I’m going to go with the Trinity because….what idiot wouldn’t?
The only eyewitness and, incidentally the One who did it, tells us one thing and our tiny brains and huge egos tells us another. And, you’re going to go with……..?
But maybe He just dumbed it down for zero century type understanding, you might say. Well then, where do we draw the line on what He meant? It’s pretty easy to see what He meant. All through the OT what He meant was, GET READY FOR JESUS! People still aren’t getting that one. And here’s another thing He’s letting us know across time in this materially fixated, digitally weaned world. There is a complete other universe right here that the blinders on our eyes won’t let us see. We can’t measure it. We can’t repeat it. So, to academia, of course, it doesn’t exist. Doing away with the supernatural does insane amounts of damage to the credibility of the Bible as well. It negates the most foundational aspect of it in the Resurrection. Not to mention countless other passages. If you’re wanting the redacted version of it, I’m afraid it won’t do you any good at all. Kindling maybe.
Please, please understand that ALL Christian evolution arguments fail against the only thing that matters, The Word.
Progressive Creation, Gap Theory, Theistic Evolution, Framework Hypothesis all reap this fruit: Pain, Death, Killing, Struggle, Suffering, Extinction, Thorns, Death. Some even deny Adam.
Or like Mike Heiser responded when asked if God couldn’t have used evolution,“ Sure He could’ve, but that God would be cruel, wasteful, and retarded. You wouldn’t want to pray to Him”
And a God that built Creation on all that and told Moses to write that He found it “very good”? If you even think Moses wrote all that stuff down?
There is a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding about what exactly the evidence shows, who decides that, and what you can actually call facts. It’s all very murky as academia and science have built unshakable barricades against God’s Word. And the world has been sucked in. Don’t burn with it.
I’ve been talking about all of this evidence for some time now and I’m pretty sure that next time I will actually get it out here. Unless I’m prompted into another rant, which can happen.
Let me leave you with this last thought though. A teaser if you will.
As pertaining to the fossil record, which is evolution’s only source of support, it’s makeup breaks down like this:
95% marine invertebrates (who couldn’t run away)
<1% mammals, reptiles, birds, and fish (they were mostly turned into oil)
Which isn’t what this looks like at all.
Food for thought.
Family, stay strong, grow in Christ, and represent!
Peace and Love, Petra
